The Mechyrdian Navy (Mec. Śtelflót) is the interplanetary warfare service branch of the Mechyrdian Armed Forces. It is one of two uniformed service branches of Mechyrdia, the other being the Mechyrdian Army.

Ships

Mechyrdia doesn't use ship classes in the traditional sense. Rather, it has different ship tiers, with each tier having a different use case.

Technologies

Technology Description
Power generation Carbon combustion Smaller ships, as well as ships on stealth missions, burn hydrocarbons and oxygen to generate power.
Nuclear fission Medium-size ships use nuclear fission in thorium reactors to generate power. The waste is jettisoned into space for some unlucky bastards to find.
Nuclear fusion The largest ships use nuclear fusion of hydrogen to generate power.
Particle weapons Particle cannons Cannons that fire large pulsed bolts of assorted high-energy particles.
Beam arrays 360-degree arrays that fire solid beams of high-energy particles.
Flak arrays 360-degree arrays that fire pulsed bolts of high-energy particles at enemy strike craft. They use sensors and neural nets to automatically find targets.
Big Gun™ Fires an extremely massive and dense beam of high-energy particles, capable of vaporizing a large asteroid in one shot. Takes a very long time to charge, though.
Missile weapons Positron torpedo Missiles with positron warheads, intended to cause explosion to enemy ship hull.
Neutron torpedo Missiles with neutron-bomb warheads, intended to give enemy ship crews radiation poisoning.
Boarding torpedo Missiles with armed crew warheads, intended to board enemy ships.
Deflector shields Scuton fields Scutons, not to be confused with scotons, are type of particle that absorbs other particles. Shield projectors polarize the scuton field in order for it to only absorb enemy projectiles and weapons, while letting Mechyrdian scanner waves and projectiles pass through.
Hull armor Minsteel alloy Mineralized steel is extremely durable, making it the perfect candidate to make a starship out of. It's not as expensive as some other candidates, as it is easy to replicate from raw matter in an atom printer.

It's made of alloyed layers of iron, carbon, zinc, tungsten, chromium, vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, manganese, and crystal zanite. Zanite is what gives the alloy its strength, and is only found on a few worlds, so natural zanite is highly coveted. Industrial zanite, however, is made in particle printers, and is more reliable as it doesn't have the impurities of natural zanite.

Scanners Circumradar (active) Uses entangled blepon particles (again, from circumspace) to continuously scan around the ship.
Particle capture (passive) Captures particles of radiation in order to scan passively for things.
FTL comms Circumradio Uses circumspace to communicate with other ships instantaneously across long distances. The speed of light is massively increased in circumspace.
FTL drive Circumdrive Ship jumps into circumspace at origin. Ship flies through circumspace. Ship exits circumspace at destination. More information on the Circumspace article.
STL drive Propellantless impulse Uses the (formerly controversial) Woodward effect. LRC circuit pylons are arranged such that the inductor and capacitor are pushed together and pulled apart in timing with the changes in energy and inertia, creating a net motive force.
Replicators Atom printers Atom printers take nucleonic matter in any form, and rearrange the protons, neutrons, and electrons to produce an output according to a material pattern.
Particle printers Particle printers are similar to atom printers, however they print the raw leptons and quarks of matter. They can also manipulate circumspace particles, making them much more versatile for printing rare minerals, such as hyprite, zanite, tractite, or gravitite.
Transport Beam gates Creates a wormhole where a person is and where they are being sent. Person gets sucked through the wormhole.
Shuttles It's a shuttlecraft. What more do you want?
Drop pods Some ships have drop pods on the ventral side for dropping armies onto planets.

Tylan Navy

The Tylan Republic also has ships of its own navy. These are similar to Mechyrdian ships, with one important difference: where Mechyrdian ships fire high-energy particles, Tylan ships fire hot ionic plasma. Plasma does more damage to enemy ships, however it travels slower than particles.

Departments and Ranks

The Mechyrdian Navy has five departments:

Name Translation Description
Auctorihet Command The top authority of the fleet, Fleet Command is in charge of making sure people and ships are where they need to be.
Ślaht Battle Fleet Battle is in charge of tactics and strategy during wartime. During peacetime, they are in charge of making sure the fleet is ready for any surprise attacks, as well as practicing battle.
Mehanic Engineering Fleet Engineering is in charge of maintaining ships, stations, and various other pieces of space military infrastructure. They are said to be able to turn pebbles into pistols.
Medicum Medical Fleet Medical is in charge of making sure the crews of Mechyrdian ships and stations are healthy and happy.
Sciencia Science Fleet Science is in charge of cataloging and analyzing scientific anomalies, as well as blowing them up if the need arises.

There are also twelve ranks: eight are non-admiralty, four are admiralty.
